Chateau de Pennautier, 2005

Cabardès, Languedoc

Cabardès, just outside Carcassonne in the south of France, is unusual in allowing both Bordeaux and Rhône varieties in the mix. With its unique geographical location, the chateau uses a combination of cabernet and merlot grapes, with syrah and grenache, underpinning the influence of two different climates. There is some of the expressive blackcurrant-fruit flavour so typical of the region, with Midi spice and warmth.

Taylor's Port, 2005

Quinta Terra Feita Vintage Port
Special Offer | was £39.95 | Now £29.95

*** 93 points Neil Martin ***
From the good 2005 vintage, the Taylors Terra Feita displays a Deep purple black colour with magenta highlights. Classic black fruit aromas of cherry and cassis provide a dense and impenetrable backdrop for wild scents of mint, resin and gumcistus. On the palate the same intense black fruit character merges with rich dark flavours of and liquorice and chocolate. The tannins are muscular but well integrated and the wine finishes with an explosion of berry fruit and spice.
